The parafoils are descendants of the actual parachutes, resulting from the work of the french-canadian Domina Jalbert to produce more efficient parachutes.
The nearly perfect aerodynamic profile makes them the most efficient kites and due to the fact that they do not need bars they can be stowed in small bags; but attention: the construction of them is quite complicated.
